The engine and driveline are responsible for: providing forward and reverse movement to the driving wheels. Petrol, LPG and Diesel are used to fuel the engine in order to run various components such as electronics, air conditioning and power steering, whilst providing energy to the driveline. The driveline consists of the engine, transmission, differential and driveshafts combining to provide energy output to the wheels. The engine oil and oil filter, the fuel system, induction system, ignition system, and transmission and differential oil levels must be properly maintained to ensure trouble free motoring. Regular engine and driveline maintenance requires the inspection and, in some instances, various other procedures to occur at selected kilometer and/or monthly intervals, as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Periodic inspection of the driveline is not usually required for passenger vehicles.
