The brake system is responsible for:
reducing the speed of a vehicle, stopping, preventing over-acceleration when driving downhill, and keeping the vehicle stationary when still or parked.

The braking system consists of hydraulic, mechanical and electronic components.

Manufacturers are now featuring Anti-Lock Braking Systems throughout most of their product range as standard equipment.

Regular brake system maintenance requires inspection, adjustment and replacement of various components at selected kilometer and/or monthly intervals as specified by the manufacturer.
